Lucy Leith, designer and Production Mode’s mending expert will lead a small group (10 ppl max) through 3 specific stitches for mending rips, splits, and tears in fabric.
What you’ll learn:
The Whip Stitch
One of the 2 most basic hand-sewing stitches, best for joining 2 edges together before reinforcing with a running stitch.
The Parachute Stitch
A stronger step up from the whip stitch, meant for holding 2 edges together without extra reinforcement, and a great option for adding decoration.
The Ladder Stitch
Also known as the invisible stitch, this technique is great for fixing split seams on garments with linings, torn stuffed animals, and any other seams with broken threads.
Lucy will provide a demo, physical examples and diagrams to follow along, and guidance while you repair your own garments.
This workshop is intended to be fun and relaxing. It’s an ideal workshop for sewists who know how to thread a needle, but total beginners are always welcome. Come out for an enjoyable evening while learning new mending techniques.
