Intro to Swiss Darning at Maydel

Swiss Darning is a mending technique that uses a needle and yarn to re-knit holes in knit fabrics for an “invisible” or bold and geometric look. In this workshop, you will be provided a knit sample and a mini-zine to follow along in a step-by-step Swiss darning demonstration. After the demo, students are invited to mend their own knit items. If you bring any moth-eaten items, please wash and/or freeze them for a week first!

It’s helpful but not necessary for students to have some basic knowledge of /experience with sewing and knitting.

Lucy will provide a demo, physical examples and diagrams to follow along, and guidance while you repair your own garments.

Mend-In at Production Mode + Trunk Show with Wulfka

Celebrate Earth Day + Fashion Revolution at Production Mode! Here's what we have planned:

Mend-In:

People all over the world will be mending clothing together on April 20th as part of Fashion Revolution Week- come celebrate with us! Bring an item of clothing in to mend it at the shop. We'll provide supplies (thread, pins, needles, scissors, buttons, fabrics for patching) and expertise if you'd like guidance.

... And for those of you who don't want to do it yourself, we also offer visible mending services- bring in a piece for us to mend for you. You can pick out patching fabrics, threads, etc, and get a quote for the repair!

Trunk Show:

Kate Van Asten, designer of the sustainable brand Wulfka, will be in the shop for the day! Kate is an expert in sustainability and inclusive sizing- we love Wulfka's elevated basics for their flattering cuts and beautiful eco-friendly textiles. Come see what Kate brings and learn more about her inspiration and process!

As always, we'll have drinks and bites for you to enjoy while you shop, mend, and chat. The mend-in & trunk show are complimentary. Come one, come all—no need to RSVP.
